Finally, Proenza Schouler’s PS 1 is within arms reach thanks to Adora!
The New York based design duo, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez are the men behind the label, introduced the satchel with its first accessories collection in 2008. With this outing, they received their second CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund award; the first was in 2004, as they were named Accessory Designers of the Year.
The PS1 has taken the good old messenger bag to luxurious but wearable levels. Done completely in leather, it’s meant to be utilized, with its multiple pockets and rugged form. It’s no surprise that on days when they just want be their casual selves, fashion’s cool girls—Leighton Meester, Mary-Kate Olsen, and Chlöe Sevigny—have been spotted with the bag in tow.
According to Erica Ilacad, Store Operations Manager of Adora, bringing the PS1 in was an easy choice—their buyers were all in love with the bag to begin with because of its form and functionality. Plus it’s an obvious fit for the Adora customers, male or female. (Ed’s note: the beauty of this bag lies as much in the androgyny of the design as in its craftsmanship.)
Erica reveals that their prices for the PS1 are comparable to that of www.net-a-porter.com, once you calculate for duties and taxes. They’ll be carrying the satchel in sizes medium to extra large. The small Keep All will be available as well as the PS11 tote.
Choices for color aren’t limited either. The first shipment has brought in neutrals in black, midnight, and smoke but Erica also mentioned the special violet and tangerine hues will be stocked. The latter is a striking red orange that’s likely to catch the eye of any discerning bag lover.
The bag salon at Adora already carries the likes of Chloe, Givenchy, Anya Hindmarch, D&G, Etro. It’s fast becoming a hub for fashion’s iconic purses, a happy place for many women, we’re sur.
