With more than 4500 stores worldwide, the widely-known US discount footwear retailer, Payless ShoeSource, has finally reached the Philippine shores courtesy of Store Specialists, Inc. (SSI). For anyone who’s been to the States, five-dollar pairs from this shoe hotbed immediately come to mind. And for any savvy shopper, great style at affordable prices is music to her keen ears.
The 56-year-old brand will open its first store at Festival Mall this July 29, 2010, and more than five other store locations due to welcome Manila’s shoe addicts within the year (that's one new shop a month). True to its merchandising strategy, new styles will be in weekly, running a wide range of sizes.
Payless has been reformatted in the US, carrying different brands, instead of just one house brand like before, including Airwalk®, Dexter®, Champion®, American Eagle by Payless and Zoe&Zac®. Like Target, it also carries a number of designer collaborations—Christian Siriano for Payless™, alice + olivia for Payless, Isabel Toleda for Payless and STPLxAirwalk—in order to appeal to a broader, design-conscious consumer base.
SSI’s Malu Francisco says “sandals and ballet flats go for as low as P800 and around P2000-P3200 for the designer labels; so when you walk in the store, you can buy more than one within your budget.”
“We also have accessories at great prices, perfect gift ideas. Also, our shoe selection resonates with our target customers—from kids to women to men—so it’s a store for the whole family,” adds SSI’s Crickette Tantoco.
