A quiet haze blanketed Makati City. An ominous and otherworldly presence was looming.
On the eve of Halloween at the Space at One Ayala, fantastical creatures of all shapes, sizes, and forms came together for the Shake, Rattle and Ball. Hosted by eventologist to the stars Tim Yap, the annual soiree welcomed forces and freaks of nature for an evening of unabashed merriment. As invitees stepped into the venue, each donning outfits that could instantly send jaws to the floor, it was clear that they were in for a one-of-a-kind party.
A Narration of the "Shake, Rattle, and Ball" 2025
The Shake, Rattle, and Ball has always commited itself to celebrating Filipino artistry, told through the lens of fantasy and fashion. At the helm of Yaparazzi Events and Public Relations, the industry figure sought to tell a new story for this year's edition. "Every story starts with once upon a time," he explains of the night's theme. "And we are all storytellers gathering for a night of fantasy, fairytale, and folklore."
Appropriately so, the Space at One Ayala was transformed into a whimsical fortress. Libations were plentiful as continuous DJ sets compelled each individual to dance. At the center was a grand stage, befitting of hip-hop royalty such as Shanti Dope, who spat some bars to kick off the night.
Handpicked by Tim and his team, the guestlist was curated to include creatives who needed an outlet to express themselves; folk who don't necesarrily conform to any mold. Halloween, after all, is a time for excess and letting go of all inhibitions. "Tonight is for people who are 'too this' or 'too that,'" the host details to Preview.
"I made sure that it represents a whole range of different kinds of creatives. And tonight is their night to fit in, or rather, to not to fit in. It's for them to celebrate what makes them different."
What Guests Wore to the "Shake, Rattle, and Ball" 2025
At it's core, the Ball aimed to be a celebration of individuality translated through fantasy. With this, it was no surprise that entities of all kinds sauntered onto the black carpet.
Drag Race Philippines alum Yudipota was mesmerizing as a mariposa with her intricately-done makeup and cumbersome wingspan. Makeup artist Jericho Andrade was swathed in tulle as a storm personified, a subtle reflection of the monsoon season taking its course that night. A handful of other standouts included influencer Lance Escober as a majestic Centaur, actress Jenny Miller as an unmissable Ibong Adarna, and Pinoy Big Brother ex-housemate Eian Rances as comic book icon Zuma.
Celebrities also made sure to pull out all the stops with their conceptual looks. Andrea Brillantes, who was painted black at The New Nocturnals the night prior, switched to a pink "Alien Princess Superstar" this time around. "[I went] from black to pink. Buti na lang I’m a stan of Blackpink!" she quips about her duo of Neric Beltran 'fits.
Another major transformation was that of LA Aguinaldo, who embodied a collegiate werewolf with fangs and fur. Meanwhile, Niana Guerrero opted for something a bit different from her usual aesthetic and dressed up as a dainty fairy.
A lady who's no stranger to switching things up, Michelle Dee was an Elven warrior with spikes growing out of her scalp. "When it’s Halloween, you want to make sure that you’re giving something different. It's my first time after a long time to celebrate Halloween in the Philippines, so I wanted to do my best," a Job Dacon-clad MMD tells Preview.
Amidst the crowd inside the ballroom were other notable guests who joined in the fun. Namely, there was Anne Curtis and K-Pop heartthrob Jackson Wang. While the two weren't in costume, they were still totally unmissable sights. In case you didn't know, Jackson is presently in town for his Magicman 2 World Tour, which holds its Manila show this November 2.

Tim Yap, the man of the hour, officially welcomed everyone as he went on stage as a very timely persona. "I am the Ghost of projects undone! Of dreams shattered, of promises undelivered!" he proclaimed as bills of (play) money spewed out all over the venue.
Each year, Tim aims to deliver a poignant look that speaks to the Filipino experience, and this year's entry, needless to say, hit all of the marks.

As the fanfare settles, Tim reflects on what Halloween has meant for him, and why he exerts all efforts to make a special evening centered around it. "Halloween is all about freedom of expression. No judgment. You can be whoever you want to be."
True to his profession as a premiere party-maker, he envisions the Shake, Rattle, and Ball to be an avenue for people to magnify all facets of themselves. "I like seeing how people express themselves, and how they go out of their way to really transform and tell their story," he goes on. In finality, the spooky season offers more than just quick frights for him.
