I've accumulated a whole floor of clothes racks from my years of ukay-ukay shopping, so I knew it would be a real challenge when Preview asked me to show my favorite finds. They are in no particular order, and these are things I use in real life and for my shoots. Here are 17 items that immediately came to mind, and why!

Mint green dress, P180, Makati Square

I love this almost-'60s silhouette and it looked brand new. The material is so nice, as well.

Retro-print polyester vest, P50, the ukay across the Sta. Ana Church in Manila

It borders on tacky but I reaaaally love this piece! Brady Bunch vibes all the way! I also wore it for an ukay-ukay feature in Preview last year

Colorful printed sweater, P90, an ukay along Pasong Tamo

The color combination drew me in, first, and then when I saw the print up close, I knew I had to have it! It's more bold and graphic than the stuff I usually go for.

Striped polyester button-down, I can't remember how much this was!

This top, along with a pair of vintage glasses I found in the store that same day, inspired a whole 70's story of mine, entitled A Girl With Far-Away Eyes.

Animal print coat, P90

Ninety pesos for a well-made coat? I didn't let go of this one! The material is so soft and fluffy. Even though it's very recognizable, I've managed to use it in four of my personal shoots already!

Honestly, we just end up buying each other's stuff! The 90's vibe is strong on this one!

Green top with cream accents

Collegiate 40's-50's for just fifty bucks. I like the color and the cut.

Sequined leotard, P100, MSM American Depot along EDSA

It's a great find given that I go to that shop more for props than clothes. I have yet to use it for a shoot, but then again, everyone needs a sequined leotard. Hahaha

Pastel rainbow dress

If pastel Tumblr and Instagram had a dress baby, this would be it. It's so pretty, I'm scared to wear it for fear of getting it dirty! But I used it for one of my shoots, and it's one of my most reblogged images on Tumblr.

Aquamarine dress, P190, Harrison Plaza.

I love, love, love this old-world dress–the color, the cut, the print–even if it's a little loose on me, it still looks nice. I've worn it with a small red belt, and one time when I forgot to bring the belt, I used a navy blue crossgrain ribbon from a gift box that worked just as well!

Plaid orange & green trousers

Ah, my famous P5 pants! I am not kidding you. Five bucks for these perfect-fitting pants that I wear over and over. I always dig through the P5 pile because there are treasures like these!

Iridescent pink coat

This looks so pretty in real life! It's like wearing a coat of shimmery nail varnish. I can't remember how much it cost, but probably not over P150.

Adidas halter, P25

All it needs are a pair of high-waisted denim bell-bottoms for a totally 70's look!

Cap, P75

I hoard hats and headwear, among other things. Shhh! At a fourth of the price of snapbacks in stores, I always come home from a thrift haul with a cap or two.

Pony hair shoes

Right size, right heel, right color, plus cute tassels: I was prepared to buy these at full ukay price (P675), but the shoes were 70% off that day! One of the best P200 I've spent on shoes. And no, they're not made from ponies!

Retro floral-print coat, P80, Kathleen's Ukay-Ukay in Tagaytay

I'm pretty sure my happiness from finding this coat was on my  Instagram stories, because I love documenting my ukay adventures! It fits like it was made for me, and I can't wait to wear it on my next cold weather trip!

Moto jacket

I am drawn to things motor-related, so my boyfriend surprised me with this when I came back from a trip abroad, recently! He's actually the one who introduced me to ukay-ukays, many years ago. Black leather moto jackets are relatively easy to find, but this one has nice patches and a stand-out color. I'm glad it isn't leather, so I can wear it here!
