This coming weekend, March 6 to 8, the annual Malasimbo Music & Arts Festival will take place in its home base for 5 years, Puerto Galera. What's different about it, though, is that this year there will be not one, but two Malasimbo weekends (the second one being the Malasimbo Lights and Dance Festival - we’ll get into the deets of that next week). For now, we’re busy packing to the sounds of Ky-Mani Marley, Fred Wesley and the New JB’s, Taylor McFerrin, French Kiwi Juice, and Gocoo + Goro—the acts we can’t wait to jam with this weekend.

WHAT TO PACK 1. Our favorite Lagu sand-proof beach blanket can go from the Puerto Galera shores to the Malasimbo amphitheatre. It’s a chill-music-under-the-stars essential. (click on the Store Directory for the complete list of stores)2. We wear sunblock everyday in the city, so we’re doubling our coverage with Vaseline’s SPF 30 serum for our three days of fun under the sun. We especially need this for Malasimboat! (Available in all leading grocery and department stores) 3. We will need this Yllume Tonic Mist to instantly refresh us when the heat gets too hot to handle (Contact hotlines 6723599 or 6557759 for list of stockists). 4. An out of town getaway is never complete without  a cute pair of carefree frames from Sunnies Studios (click on the Store Directory for the complete list of stores). 5. Leave all your designer bags in the city, all you’ll need for the festival is a handy tote that can carry all your essentials. 6. A vibrant waterproof purse is a must-have for storing your valuables. 7. Kodak's disposable camera will document new memories without you having to worry about dropping or losing it (SM Malls).

Familiarize yourself by listening to our pre-event playlist below. And oh, we threw in a bit of Bob Marley in there as well. You’re welcome.
