The Philippines may not have all four seasons, but we’re lucky enough to have sweater weather during the holidays up until around February. We're obviously excited for the breezy nights ahead so we enlisted the help of beauty turned fashion girl Samantha Sadhwani. Who is she, you ask?
Samantha or Sam is no stranger to the industry. She was a Preview intern, a TV show host (ETC HQ), a model; and most recently, she made the jump from the beauty world where she was working to fashion, as she joins curated online shop, LCP.
As they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Though her decision to be in the field of fashion was never imposed on her by her mom, model-turned-PR maven Apples Aberin, Sam finds herself comfortable and enjoying where she is now. But when it comes to style, she sure knows to listen well to mommy. “The one thing my mom taught me is to just have fun with fashion; to never take it too seriously. Follow trends but ultimately, wear what makes you feel beautiful and comfortable. So that’s exactly what I try to do!”
Here, she shows us how to put together Manila-friendly knits that you can pull off for the holidays—ranging from light to dark hues to suit your fancy!
KNIT DRESS
Beige knitted dress, Mango;sneakers, Superga
Fashion Tip: Don’t be scared to don a full knit dress for any of your holiday get–togethers. Pair it with white sneakers instead of heels to nail this comfy casual-cool look.
TURTLENECK
Grey turtleneck, P1595; cullottes, P2995, both from Zara
Fashion Tip: Go dark for that slimming look during Noche Buena! Cinch your waist by tucking a fitted turtleneck sweater into a pair of elongating culottes.
KNIT TOP
Sleeveless turtleneck, P795; A-line skirt, P1490, both from Stradivarius; brown wedges, P1700, Forever 21
Fashion Tip: Meeting your girlfriends for Holiday lunch? Opt for a more weather- friendly type of knit like this sleeveless top and pair it with a breezy and equally flattering midi skirt. Going for one color palette also makes for a more sophisticated look.
KNIT SWEATER
Black knit sweater; metallic cullottes, both from Forever 21; loafers, Charles & Keith
Fashion Tip: Strike a balance between feminine and masculine pieces by opting for an oversized shapeless sweater paired with metallic (a festive touch!) cullotes. Finish off with a pair of loafers—comfy and dressy enough for a dinner or coffee with friends!
OVERSIZED SWEATER
Oversized knit sweater, Zara; white trousers, P4799, Harlan + Holden
Fashion Tip: Play with oversized silhouettes without looking sloppy by making sure you pick the right proportions and pair similar hues. A chunky knit sweater paired with a flowy pair of trousers can give the illusion of a lean silhouette! Tuck the sweater if you want a more laid-back feel.
