We know three things about Shaira Luna: (1) she's a talented fashion photographer; (2) she's the “gifted” Promil kid who starred in a famous TV commercial back in the day—no, seriously; and (3) she is notoriously good at thrift shopping! She can put together a stylish outfit with a price tag that won't go over a hundred bucks. And if you’re one of the many who've been jealous over her exquisite ukay finds, well, then you better mark your calendars because you're in for a treat this weekend.
This coming Sunday (August 14), from 9AM to 6PM at Elite Studios, 3F A-Venue Mall in Makati, Shaira will be sharing her cheap thrills—clothes, shoes, bags, you name it—in a much-awaited closet cleaning sale.
"It's no secret that I love collecting costumes and going to the ukay-ukays to buy clothes for my personal/self-styled shoots, but it just came to a point that I had to make room for new purchases! Even though it's hard to let go of things that I really spent time picking, I just have to be practical and sell the stuff I've already photographed because I can't really use them for shoots again," says the photographer. "Closet cleaning sales are really fun because they are similar to the ukay-ukay experience, except that the clothes have already been 'filtered' for you—and the place isn't dusty! (Laughs)"
The event will also be in collaboration with Shaira's stylist friends, so you’ll be sure to score great finds from their personal wardrobes. She adds: "Since most of the people selling with me are fashion stylists, there will be lots and lots of variety. For example, Ryuji Shiomitsu's clothes are very young and trendy, Ria Casco leans toward the vintage, and Sidney Yap styles mostly celebrities, so for sure there will be nice designer dresses, separates, and basics (even for guys). Stylist Austin Cortiguerra drew portraits of his customers last time. My own stuff will be a jumble of everything, since I weave in and out of styles and eras!"
We haven't even told you the best part yet: Everything will be unbelievably affordable!
"It will be super cheap! I've sold tank tops for as low as P10, and I think my highest was P1000 for a suede capelet that I hadn't even used. Most of the stuff will probably be priced from P35-P250!"
Convinced yet? Race you there!
