Early this year, rumors began to build up that the 47-year old ended his four-year tenure at the helm of the French label but were quickly shut down as a statement released to Vogue UK claimed that it was just “another false speculation.” But as of today, Vogue reports that Saint Laurent has indeed confirmed via press release of Hedi’s departure as the brand’s creative and image director.

The statement released by Kering, the luxury goods holding company that owns Saint Laurent as well as Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, and Gucci, reads:

“At the end of a four-year mission, which has led to the complete repositioning of the brand, the Maison Yves Saint Laurent announces the departure of Hedi Slimane as its creative and image director.
