It's a sad day for the fashion industry as it mourns for the loss of another world-class talent. Filipino fashion designer Rocky Gathercole, 54, was found lifeless at his home in Diliman, Quezon City this Wednesday afternoon, March 3, 2021.
News about his passing was confirmed by his colleagues on social media earlier today, noting a possible heart attack as the cause of death.
Rocky's most notable works include dressing up Hollywood celebrities and A-listers, such as Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Nicki Minaj, Tyra Banks, and Jennifer Lopez, among many others. He was known for his show-stopping pieces and avant-garde designs that turned heads in both local and international fashion scenes and were admired by beauty queens, TV personalities, music icons, models, and celebrities.

Rocky's sudden passing shocked friends and colleagues, who took it to social media to express their grief.
On Instagram, actress Sharon Cuneta posted a video of herself mourning the loss of the talented couturier. She sent out her condolences to Rocky's family, and continued her thoughts in the caption, "Rocky loved me. He was a pure Sharonian and my friend. He couldn’t wait to see this movie because he loved Osang too. I miss you already, dearest Rocky. Thank you for loving me all these years. My and my family’s deepest condolences to Rocky’s family during this terrible time. May God keep you all strong as I am sure Rocky would want you to be. God bless you."
Beauty Queens Bella Ysmael and Katrina Lledgado also posted their own tributes to the late designer, uploading photos of themselves dressed in Rocky's gorgeous creations.

Rocky's industry peers, photographer Roj Miguel and model Vivian Gischewski, honored him as well by remembering on their IG stories the last time they worked with the talented designer.

A homeless kid before making a name for himself in the fashion world, Rocky initially started his humble career in Pasay City after running away from home at 14 years old. He then moved to the Middle East and was based there for 20 years. His inspiring life story was featured in an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya in 2017.
In 2010, he debuted at Miami Fashion Week, which garnered international attention. Since then, his collections have been showcased throughout the United States, from New York to Los Angeles, and more. His flamboyant creations have been worn all over the world and on the cover of many fashion magazines.
Rest in peace, Rocky. Your legacy will not be forgotten.
