That badass, French look that’s equal parts sexy and empowering, is one of the legacies that Riccardo Tisci is leaving behind in the world of fashion.
To celebrate his 10th year as Creative Director for Givenchy, i-D tapped Tisci to front one of the limited edition covers for the magazine’s 35th anniversary. He may be dubbed as the leader of dark and moody designs, but the designer says that it’s not entirely true. ”Everybody says I’m the king of darkness, the king of goth, but at the end of the day I’m quite a sweet dreamer. I’m obsessed with cartoons and romance,” he explains in i-D. Who could forget those Bambi-bedecked graphic outfits?
The epitome of his aesthetic seems to be his long-time friend/muse Mariacarla Boscono. She’s the total ‘GGirl’. “Of course I’m attracted by beauty like everyone else. but I’m more attracted by intelligence. I’m very feminist…The ‘GGirl’ is intense, big eyes, and deep,” he shares.
We’re hoping for tie-ups with muses (Kim K and Madonna) and faces (Julia Roberts) of the brand, and for new GGirls to come!
