What: Stylistinpocket.com is an online-based styling service that provides the customer a curated closet to shop from. They can visit you at home or you can choose from your online "fitting room." They deliver the clothes you like at your doorstep. They partner with local brands like Ensembles, Caoros, and Memo, along international brands like Topshop, Miss Selfridge, G2000, so you're assured you'll get quality and trendy clothes that will fit your budget.
Current Condition: I'm a big fan of online shopping. Working in fashion, I'm naturally inclined to fashion, and thus by extension, shopping. But given the fast-paced and demanding lifestyle of the digital world (I write for Preview's website, mind you), I hardly have the time to pause and personally go out to shop. Instead, I turn to online shopping to have my purchases delivered to my house. But sometimes, even the mere task of choosing among thousands of products online feels tedious and makes me feel lazy. Style-wise, I have a pretty strong sense of what I like to wear and I'm also open to trying new fashion trends.
How I Used It: Stylist in Pocket offers two types of free styling services: (1) one is the home visit; and the other (2) is online styling. When I first created my account on the site, I took a style quiz where I was asked about my preferences, including the things that I don't like to wear and the body areas I don't like to bare. This included colors and various clothing cuts. After completing the test, I was given the choice of home visit or online styling. I chose the latter first.
I was immediately contacted by my online stylist, who asked more questions about my preferences and other special considerations she should take into account (like certain events I'll be attending) before curating six looks, just a couple of hours later. On the first try, I didn't particularly like any of the things she chose, but my stylist was patient and accommodating enough to create a second batch where I was able to choose a couple of items that I really liked. These items arrived at my doorstep just a few days later and they fit me nicely.

I later went back to the site and opted for a home visit. This time around, I asked to be dressed for a whole week. But since I was pressed for time, I asked if we can schedule the visit in my office instead; my home visit stylist gladly obliged. And so, armed with the data from my previous style quiz, my stylist came with two racks of clothes filled with different pieces from various brands and included multiple size options for me to choose from. He patiently showed me pieces he put together and had back-up choices when I didn't like certain clothes. As I tried on the outfits, he also talked to me how the pieces worked together and how I can rewear them in the future.
Below are the clothes he chose for me:

My stylist gave me 13 pieces and was able to come up with seven looks. All these pieces were gathered from Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Ensembles, Caoros, and Espada, totaled P23,335.
Conclusion: It can be tedious to shop and plan your outfits for social events and family gatherings, especially for working girls. Given the limited time I have that's far too valuable to be spent inside the mall (only to come home with one or two items, or worse, empty-handed), having someone to take care of my daily looks was a relief. I was quite happy with how both my online and home visit experiences turned out. Both stylists had a good grasp of which clothes would look nice on me despite knowing little about me. They listened to my preferences and extended helpful suggestions for me to consider. They also kept reminding me that I can return pieces I don't like (or don't fit) for online styling and that I don't have to force myself to buy anything during home visits. Stylist in Pocket valued my comfort and sartorial choices above all.
Overall, I think this service is perfect for girls with limited time to go through store after store for certain pieces. Having someone curate clothes for you will immediately cut back wasted time by a huge fraction. That said, you should also have a good understanding of what you like and don't like so you'll be able to communicate these well to your assigned stylist. It will make both of your lives easier as you continue to avail this service.
