The pandemic isn’t stopping world renowned modeling agency Elite Model Management from scouting the world’s next Kendall Jenner. Elite, which has discovered faces like Cindy Crawford and Gisele Bündchen and signed runway superstars like Irina Shayk, Liu Wen, and Kendall, is continuing their global model search but with a digital twist. Now on its 37th year, the Elite Model Look competition (which was formerly known as Look of the Year), has introduced a new category called “Digital Creator”. Among thousands of applications, our very own 21-year-old Filipino-Chinese model Reins Mika made the cut, and will be competing for the sought-after exclusive contract with Elite and their affiliate agencies!

“Most people might wonder why I am competing in the category of Digital Creator, even though I have been working as a fashion model for years now,” Mika tells Preview. “Honestly, I want to be remembered by most people not simply as a model, but a model with passion for her creativity. And I believe through my creative vision, direction, art, and writing I can win this competition.” Mika will be competing against five other applicants under the same category and is the only Asian, too!

Mika has already fronted campaigns for brands like Human, Rustan’s, and Dove and appears regularly on the runways of Bench Fashion Week. This year, the proud chinita became part of the Preview Clique where she’s able to showcase more of her content creator skills. “Being a model is an amazing experience but being a model and a digital creator is something else. It’s like you’re not just this type of person, but another type of creative with more to offer,” she shares.

Previous Philippine representatives include beauty queens turned actresses Melanie Marquez (1986) and Ruffa Gutierrez (1992), and most recently Miss Universe Philippines candidate Alaiza Malinao back in 2016. Signing with Elite, whose clients range from Vogue titles from all over the world to Versace runway and ad campaigns, would be a great launch pad for any aspiring model’s career in the international fashion scene.
Congratulations for being a finalist, Mika! The entire Philippine fashion industry is rooting for you! Make sure to support Mika by voting for her here!
