Rajo Laurel likes a lot of things—art exhibits, food adventures, and interesting architecture. Though if there’s one thing he doesn’t like, that’s certainly math. Numbers frustrate most of us, including this brilliant fashion designer. And if there’s something we recently learned from him, that is how to make use of the things you dislike and turn them into a work of art. That’s how his latest collection, the Theory of Congruence, was born.
Congruence, on a Mathematical definition, suggests a state of agreement when similar variables come together. Inspired by such and all its concepts relating to numbers, lines and dimensions, Rajo’s Cruise 2015 Collection was designed to be a palate cleanser in between his Spring/Summer and Holiday collections, making use of neutral colors such as beige, olive, navy and wine, and the staple black and white. This time, he foregoes his signature abundance in details and ornaments to pave the way for a more relaxed aesthetic and elegant ease executed using easy fabrics such as cotton, linen, crepe and printed silks.
