In the beauty world, we've recently seen Hello Kitty's makeup collaboration with Colourpop. Fashion-wise, we've also witnessed the beloved Sanrio character rule the streets with Converse, Penshoppe, and Furla. This time around, Hello Kitty is getting a local designer treatment—and with Rajo Laurel, no less! "I think they wanted a Filipino designer that would create something Filipino and yet modern for Hello Kitty," Rajo tells Preview. "I wanted to give Hello Kitty a Filipino flavour but in a contemporary context," he adds.
The proud Filipino designer took it to Instagram to reveal the exciting news. Coming this November 23, we're looking forward to seeing a refined and feminine take on Hello Kitty through his "20-piece special couture clothes." And with Rajo's genius workmanship and print mastery, coupled with his signature aesthetic, we can probably expect lots of volume in the form of ruffles and ruches, clean silhouettes via pleats and cuts, and of course, a playful take on colors and prints.
Additionally, Rajo shares that he's also designing another collection apart from clothes. Called RAJO HELLO KITTY, the line will transcend clothes and feature stationery, home wear, and even toys. Can't wait for the big reveal!
