Raf Simons Exits Dior His 3-year tenure as the luxury label's Creative Director has come to an end.

While some of you were sound asleep, news broke last night that Raf Simons has made the decision not to renew his contract with French label Dior after serving as Creative Director for the past 3 years. The Cut reveals that this surprising announcement has been known to LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault and Dior’s CEO Sidney Toledano for quite some time now. This was long before the label’s recent Spring 2016 show at Paris Fashion Week, which, apparently, is Simons’ last.

But why the sudden decision? While the designer still hasn't released an official statement, he has been quite candid about the pressures of working at Dior where his creativity is stretched in putting together six different collections each year, two of which are haute couture. There were even reports of the brand being questioned before for the amount of stress they put on their chief creative since Raf’s predecessor John Galliano’s fall.

In the meantime, expect Raf to turn his attention to his Antwerp-based men’s label as his non-compete agreement with Dior bars him from moving to another label until after some months or years. As for who will take his place, fingers point to Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci whose haunting NYFW show was studded with LVMH executives. Others are guessing that it's Céline’s Phoebe Philo, though chances are she might also resist the offer considering the amount of work she already has on her plate. We’ll just all have to wait and see who gets to take over. 'Til then, we leave you with this video of Raf's last collection:
