The competition is officially underway and she arrived in style.

Pageant fans, rejoice! The 69th Miss Universe competition has officially started as contestants arrived at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. That means we’ll be flooded with a lot of content from our bet Rabiya Mateo!

It’s been reported that the morena beauty queen will be flaunting more than 100 Filipino designers throughout the competition. One look that has made quite a stir online is this revealing slinky dress by young designer Kerby Zata.

“The inspiration was Philippine gold,” Kerby shares in a post by @teamrainxem on Instagram. “I wanted to capture the fluidity and how malleable gold is to us, and to accentuate the body Rabiya worked hard for. I wanted her to shine by executing it in a cool silhouette in gold fabric that looks cool and potentially beige-like to highlight her skin.”

True enough, the dress has a soft sheen and drapes on Rabiya’s body like liquid metal. There’s no denying that there’s a bit of a nod to Versace’s Oroton fabric creations. With its deep cowl neckline, equally revealing back paired with some ruching to highlight her bum, and high slit, it was a look that was effortless but high impact. The beauty queen then finished off the look with a pair of earrings from Luna by Drake Dustin and white structured clutch by CALLI by Tessa Nepumuceno.

Netizens were simply stunned by this look that there was a clamor for a proper full body shot. The comments and requests were so overwhelming that stylist Rain Dagala had to put out an official statement to clarify the lack of glamorous OOTD pics. He wrote:

“Hello guys! This is Rain Dagala of @teamrainxem. How are you? While a full body shot would've been spectacular we would prefer if @rabiyamateo would focus on what needs to be done for the competition, in her own terms. If she finds time to take a photo of herself that would be great, but let us NOT take it against her if she doesn't.

And as much as we would like to have somebody standing by to take her photos, our top priority is abide by the COVID guidelines set by the MUO, which basically entails lesser people in the venue. We wouldn't want to give our queen an unintended cause of concern because of this. After all, these are just fun things for us supporters to have!

So let's just take things as they come, and wait for updates as they come. Thank you for following us and expect that we will work harder and give our all out support to champion Filipino artistry and our Queen Rabiya.”

We can’t wait to see the rest of Rabiya’s proudly Filipino wardrobe for the competition!

The contest proper is on May 16 hosted by America TV host Mario Lopez and former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo, but the Miss Universe preliminaries will be happening all week long.
