Three inspirations, a fondness for athletic uniforms, and a constant '90s streetwear course bring us to 1990Nile, the Spring/Summer 2013 offering of Manila-based label, Proudrace.
Since the release of their first collection four years ago, the brand has grown internationally in countries such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, and even in the U.S. Their constant growth goes to show that more people are now open to an edgy, non-conformist, and street-inspired aesthetic, where the brand’s unique pieces can be easily combined with basics and create endless styling possibilities.
This season, Proudrace launched a minimalist monochromatic collection inspired by Egyptian hieroglyphs, sportswear, and the 1993 movie Mi Vida Loca (amazing how they are able to combine elements that are from totally different ends of the spectrum). Not only are their inspirations diverse, but most of their renditions are also androgynous. Composed of spunky hand-made streetwear separates like oversized shirts, jog pants, tops, and jackets, the collection is definitely made for the wild, young, and free.
