The Fondation d'entreprise Hermès (Hermès Corporate Foundation), which promotes traditional craft skills, supports the creative arts, fosters access to education and training and the protection of the environment, is now launching the Prix Émile Hermès 2011, a contest which seeks to "promote new, creative thinking in the applied arts and design from
designers at pivotal stages in the development of their careers. The award aims to support the winner in the launch of a new phase in his or her professional life."
It is open to young designers aged 40 years or under by 30 November 2010, who are in any of the following criteria:
- Professional designers, graduates from schools of design, architecture, decorative arts, fine arts, or engineers;
- Professional, non-graduate designers or engineers with at least three years' proven experience in the field of design;
- Final-year students on masters programmes at schools of design, industrial design, architecture and the visual, applied or decorative arts.
The prizes are as follows: first prize, 50,000 euros; second prize, 25,000 euros; third prize, 15,000 euros.
