Ready to go down and back to the rabbit hole? The 2018 Pirelli Calendar will take you to Wonderland, where surreal dreams are made of. Captured by Tim Walker and styled by Vogue UK's Edward Eninnful, the calendar depicts a "tableaux full of allusions to unlikely situations, to illusory proverbs, cited with a constant reference to English culture." Here, he features 17 characters from the world of fashion, music, cinema, and the underground universe. And these black artists symbolize "an important step in culture development—to push images that aren’t generic, that don’t conform to stereotypes," says South African law graduate and model Thando Hopa.
An apt retelling of Alice's world, Thando reveals to The Guardian her conversation with Tim, "Any person should be able to see themselves in any way. So any girl, whether she is black or Chinese or Indian, they should be able to have their own fairytale’."
