One out of 10 women is diagnosed with breast cancer. You, your mom, your friends, your sister, anyone really, regardless of age and sometimes even gender (although rare, men can suffer from breast cancer), could easily contract the dreaded disease in the blink of an eye. This is why it is important to actively do your part—no matter how small the act—to help raise awareness. Routine breast checks, which you can do yourself at home, include examining your breasts for any lumps, changes in size, shape, and symmetry. Other signs to look out for are changes in your nipple such as ulceration, crusting, redness or inversion, dimpling of the skin, rashes, and nipple discharge. It is always best to see your doctor though, to be sure. Remember, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure, that’s for sure. But don't stop there; encourage your family and friends to do the same.
If you are active on social media, you would have noticed that there are a ton of movements promoted by various companies across all industries that take part in fighting the Big C. Today, we invite you to join in by taking your pretty pink pieces for a spin and start rocking them for a cause. We've always been passionate about using Mean Girls references, but we never thought we could ever use them for cancer awareness. So if wearing pink on Wednesdays is your creative way to support the movement, then go ahead—start flaunting the sweet and feminine hue all you want ladies! And don't forget to explain why, of course.
