Pia Jauncey's Preview Ball 2025 Look Is an Ode to Her Ever-Evolving Journey

For its 30th anniversary, Preview invited guests to interpret the dress code of homegrown creative formal. This year's Style Icon, Pia Jauncey, worked closely with her longtime stylist Perry Tabora and embraced the challenge, with a concept inspired by the fashion maven's milestones.
For the evening, Perry drew inspiration from the mariposa butterfly. Pia arrived in a flowing black-and-white Mark Bumgarner gown, accented by diamond-set Bulgari jewels.

As with many of their past collaborations, Pia and Perry worked hand in hand on the concept. For this year’s theme, they sought to highlight elements “that are distinctly Filipino yet universally resonant,” as explained by Perry.
The gown’s design, with gauzy fabric layered in sweeping black lines, references the mariposa—long seen as a symbol of transformation, freedom, and wonder. In many ways, the reference also mirrors Pia’s own evolution, from her historic Miss Universe 2015 win to her steady rise in the international fashion arena.

Sartorially, the column gown's pleated detailing takes cues from the butterfly’s delicate wings, much like how its surface follows a motif of overlapping scales. Swathed in a pristine white hue, the color choice is a nod to the sampaguita, the national flower, which represents purity and elegance.
“Together, the silhouette and symbolism celebrate both movement and meaning, capturing a sense of timeless Filipina beauty,” Perry says.

Complementing the botanical-inspired elements, Pia wore pieces from Bulgari’s Fiorever Collection. Diamond-encrusted designs added radiance while echoing the themes of vitality and grace. “The jewelry beautifully complements the mariposa and sampaguita inspiration of her gown,” Perry notes.
All in all, Pia’s look was a sartorial homage to her personal journey—ever-evolving, forward-looking, and always grounded by her Filipino identity.
