Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2010: Katigbak, Arnaldo & Esac Gerry Katigbak, Ronaldo Arnaldo, and three designers for ESAC release their collections for PFW Holiday 2010.

For the last trio show of May 29, 2010, Gerry Katigbak, Ronaldo Arnaldo, and the ESAC collaborators presented their respective works for Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2010. Their influences were distinctly varied, and easily distinguishable from one another through their individual cuts, materials, and color palettes.

Gerry Katigbak's 50-piece collection seemed to be inspired by the national costume of Korea, the hanbok. His garments were truncated versions of the stately national dress, and featured quite an imperial slant through detailed embroidery, embellishment, and the use of more decadent fabrics such as brocade. Some pieces were given a modern, K-pop twist with brightly colored neck or sleeve accents and polka-dotted chiffon overlays.

Ronaldo Arnaldo's repertoire, called Filipiniana Now, is the PFW veteran's take on being eco-friendly and patronizing what is proudly Filipino. He used 100% organic, purely Filipino fabrics and weaves such as piña, abaca, and Philippine dupione to fashion creations inspired by the structural mastery of the late Filipino fashion icon Salvacion Lim Higgins. The result was an aesthetically pleasing weave of tremendously stylish pieces that appeal to the young and old alike.

Meanwhile, Lyle Ibañez, Raoul Ramirez and Audie Espino all worked together to produce a three-part collection for the clothing brand ESAC. It was entirely monochromatic and featured neat, ultra-wearable, figure-flattering cuts that would undoubtedly charm the retail market of ESAC.
