Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2010: Grand Allure A final big batch of designers present their respective collection for PFW Holiday 2010.

The audience was left allured, alright, by some of the Grand Allure collections in Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2010. More often than not, the lucky souls who witnessed a few of the 16 spectacles were treated to gorgeously executed collections that left them gasping and clapping for more.

Standouts include John Herrera's exquisitely devised (and well-lauded) black and gold collection of regal, delicately constructed dresses; June Pugat's modern take on a dynastic Medici inspiration fleshed out in breathtaking, bespattered fabrics; Frederick Policarpio's cohesive and dramatic matador-inspired production; and Cherry Samuya Veric's—another crowd pleaser—embellished feminine finery, some of which echoed the sheer-topped and embellished form of Halle Berry's Elie Saab 2002 Oscars burgundy tour de force.

But more than a few collections in the Grand Allure series disappointed as well, which is a tremendous pity because there stood out, like little gems, some truly beautiful creations amidst the rabble of unprepossessing repertoires. But this is by no means a disheartening fact, for the mere existence of those lovely gems proves that all of these designers possess talent and skill, which only need to be sharpened to the hilt.
