Personal Stylist: May Showers We put together four ensembles that you can wear rain or shine.

It’s that transitional season again when it’s still too hot to wear thick layers yet too risky to wear open-toed footwear because of sudden rainshowers. Summer is about to end and the rainy days are knocking on our doors. The weather may be confusing and unpredictable, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be ready for it. Start preparing for the downpour by stocking up on comfy pieces you can move around in, like rubber-soled booties, tennis shoes, lightweight cover-ups, to stylish umbrellas you can conveniently stash inside your bags. Gloomy weather is not an excuse to look drab! Read on to waterproof yourself and make the remaining days of summer sweeter.

Overalls are so back! A full-length denim dungaree can be appropriate for the heat when worn with a tee or a crop top, and can simply be replaced with long sleeves if you feel like it’s going to rain. An addition of a hip cap can be worn to protect hair and face both from the sun and rain.

A gray cotton mullet is breezy enough for hot weather and chic when paired with a wedge hi-top. Simply tie the check shirt around your waist when it’s hot and button it up when it starts drizzling. Go for printed umbrellas like this mustache printed-one for that extra dose of fun.

Lightweight is key! Protect your legs from the splashes of water when walking on annoying puddles with soft trousers and pair them with a loose, airy blazer you can sport even if it’s hot. If you want to wear flats, opt for the jelly variety to keep your feet dry and clean.

Who says you can’t wear white when it’s raining? We're in love with the emerging wrap skorts that you can dress up or down. Play things up a bit by teaming these shortswith a muscle tee and rubber-soled booties for a casual vibe. Finish the look with an ethnic-print umbrella to add that pop of color to chase away the rainy-day blues. >
