Pefta Update Part 1: Going Global Take a peek into the design careers of former PEFTA finalists.

Preview Emerging Fashion Talent Awards, or what we affectionately call PEFTA, was launched in 2010 with a vision to help jumpstart the design careers of fashion students and newbie designers. Every year, a new breed of designers—carefully chosen by Preview editors—are given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to present their vision to the top movers and shakers of the industry via an exclusive fashion show and a feature in the magazine's September issue.

Fresh talent is in the air once again as the editors just finished deliberating for this year's batch. After looking through their work and getting to know them better, we can't help but feel nostalgic and proud of the previous designers who started out with PEFTA and are now taking big leaps in their careeers.

So what is life after PEFTA, you ask? We were able to touch base with former finalists to find out where they are now, what their future plans are, and the greatest lesson they learned from the competition. Read on as we give you the first batch of alumni who are making waves in the global scene.

STACY RODRIGUEZ

BATCH: 2010

With the success of her retail brand, Glasnost, Stacy decided to pursue further studies in Parsons School of Design in New York.

ON BEING PART OF PEFTA

It was a HUGE help. The game changed having that stamp of approval. The exposure helped open a lot of doors for me as a designer. I'll always be thankful to Preview for this.

LOOKING BACK: HER GREATEST LESSON

Being surrounded by such talented people actually encouraged me to accept and work on my weaknesses, which is why I am in design school.  So it's safe to say PEFTA changed my life.

LOOKING FORWARD: 2013 PLANS

You can expect me to work on my craft, learn as much as I can, and find my own voice here in NYC. I expect and hope to make you all proud.
