WHAT IS YOUR COLLECTION ABOUT? ANYTHING SPECIFIC IT WAS INPIRED BY?
My collection was inspired by sea waves. I'm a nature lover, and this form of movement in nature was very interesting to me. I'm scared of swimming but I like the view and the feeling of water!
WHAT WERE THE TECHNIQUES AND MATERIALS THAT YOU USED?
I used indigenous Jusi fabric—not such a conventional fabric to use, but it stands so beautifully when draped. All the fabrics I used were dyed to a whopping 18 shades.
HOW DID YOU FEEL WHEN YOU LEARNED THE THEME IS "THE ART OF MOVEMENT?" HOW DOES "ART OF MOVEMENT" TRANSLATE TO YOUR COLLECTION?
I was so excited! Mainly to be given a chance to join PEFTA, but also because the concept I've been wanting to execute fit so perfectly with the theme.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE PIECE IN THE COLLECTION?
Definitely my pixelated dress, the first piece I did. I was at a poignant moment in my life while doing it—I was confused as to what career I wanted at the time, so my emotions were poured into that piece.
PEFTA IS FAST APPROACHING. HOW HAVE YOUR PREPARATIONS BEEN GOING, SO FAR?
My plan for the next few days: get fresh for the event!
WHAT SHOULD THE EXHIBIT GOERS EXPECT OF YOUR COLLECTION?
I want the audience to see a piece of art that's wearable. Clothes as art need not to be outrageous or daring. They can be subtly elegant, accessible, yet still be artful.
