Paying Tribute

Shoe lovers pay Tribute to YSL's iconic shoes.
Paying Tribute Shoe lovers pay Tribute to YSL's iconic shoes.

Be it with shiny studs, edgy gladiator straps, or skinny stiletto heels, fashionistas know that completing the perfect outfit can only be done with the right pair of shoes. In this day and age when innovative shopping sites are satisfying our shoe lust with designer styles at a bargain, it becomes something of note when a certain piece makes the ladies go out of their way to get the real deal. As soon as several of Manila's stylish citizens started strutting around in a certain very high, very expensive and very, very chic pair of shoes, Style Bible instantly recognized it as the party circuit's shoe du jour—the Yves Saint Laurent Tribute platform sandals.

The fashion house introduced Tributes back in 2007 with fierce platform pumps and Mary Jane peeptoes. A year later, YSL came out with the T-strap sandals and the Tribute Two pumps and ankle boots. Shoe addicts immediately fell in love with the sky-high platform heels that go up to five and a half inches, and from what we've seen here in Manila, the T-strap sandal remains the current Tribute of choice for the ladies. Our local girls are in good company, for trendsetters like Kate Moss, Ashley Olsen, and Olivia Palermo have also been seen rocking their pairs.

With all the fanfare surrounding the Tribs, Style Bible decided to ask what exactly makes them so desirable. Is it the four-inch heels with the one-inch platform height, the classy T-strap design, or the YSL designer label? Are they really worth the $760 price tag? And are they even comfortable? Why are women like Divine Lee, Bea Soriano and Anne Curtis walking sky high in them? Before you let the curiosity (or jealousy) kill you, just click on to find out from the lucky owners themselves!
