If you remember, the Pantone Color of the Year for 2021 was composed of two picks: Ultimate Gray and Illuminating. A play of light and darkness, these two symbolized rock solid strength tempered with hope and optimism.

The Pantone Color of the Year for 2022 continues last year's story, focusing on change and transformation during these unprecedented times. Very Peri is a mix of calming and constant blue, and the strong, creative energy of violet-red. One thing that's special about this color is that it's new, and not in the current roster of the Institute.
"Creating a new color for the first time in the history of our Pantone Color of the Year educational color program reflects the global innovation and transformation taking place," Pantone Color Institute Vice President Laurie Pressman explains. "As society continues to recognize color as a critical form of communication, and a way to express and affect ideas and emotions and engage and connect, the complexity of this new red violet infused blue hue highlights the expansive possibilities that lay before us."
Wondering how to rock Very Peri through your outfits? Pantone created four color palettes that you can base your looks on
1. Balancing Act: a blend of warm and cool complementary colors

2. Wellspring: nature-inspired hues

3. Star of the Show: earthy and sophisticated neutrals highlighted by Veri Peri

4. Amusements: bright and playfiul colors that reflect confidence and creativity
