The 2021 Academy Awards best dressed list is finally here!
In case you're wondering: Yes, the Oscars took place in person. Similar to the standard operating prodedure of a film production, they had a rotating attendee list, all of whom were fully vaxxed and COVID-tested. You can guess what that means. For the first time in ages, we're seeing an actual red carpet event!
Needless to say, the stars themselves were surely excited for this momentous occasion, too, and made sure to dress up to par. We're delighted to report that they rightly served elegance, mystique, and high glamour.
Without further ado, here's our list:
1. Zendaya in Valentino
It's official: Zendaya is literally incapable of letting us down. Here she is in a billowy lemon yellow gown from Valentino. It's beyond flattering.
2. Amanda Seyfried in Giorgio Armani Privé
Amanda Seyfried's exhilirating scarlet tulle gown is even redder than the red carpet itself. Consider this a not-so-subtle reminder fashion can and should make a statement.
3. Halle Berry in Dolce & Gabbana
Halle Berry's iridescent frock is both orchid-hued and orchid-shaped. It's straight out of a garden dream!
4. Carey Mulligan in Valentino
Adorned in this blinding Valentino two-piece, Carey Mulligan commands awe. The golden sequins and scalloped trimming are just breathtaking.
5. Vanessa Kirby in Gucci
This pale petal pink gown holds a simple and quiet allure. To disrupt the subtlety, Vanessa Kirby wore some vampy plum lipstick. So chic!
6. Laura Dern in Oscar dela Renta
Drop waist silhouettes are boring? Think again. Laura Dern is dressed in a jarring Oscar dela Renta piece with a black mock neck longsleeved top and a snowy ostrich plume skirt. It's safe to say that we're obsessed.
7. Chloe Zhao in Hermès
Chinese filmmaker Chloe Zhao made history at the 2021 Oscars twice. First, it was for being the first woman of color to bag the coveted Best Director award (and the second woman overall to do so). Second, it was for hitting the red carpet sans makeup, and in sneakers. Her dress, by the way, is an ethereal micropleated and waffle-textured number from Hermès!
8. H.E.R in Dundas
In a nod to the pop icon Prince, H.E.R. sported a beaded indigo frock with a cape and hood by Dundas. This mystifying, artful look serves fortune teller energy in the best way possible.
9. Han Ye-ri in Louis Vuitton and Youn Yuh-jung in Marmar Halim
Onscreen mother-daughter tandem Han Ye-ri and Youn Yuh-jung brought a sleek, effortless elegance. The 73-year-old Oscar winner Youn Yuh-jung wore a structured navy dress by the Dubai-based label Marmar Halim. Meanwhile, Han ye-ri wore a Louis Vuitton cherry red halter-style gown with sun-shaped hardware. No frills, just pure chic from the both of them!
10. Tiara Thomas in Jovana Louis
From now on, whenever we hear the Jhené Aiko lyric, "I keep it 100 from my head down to my toes," we'll be thinking of this look from Tiara Thomas. Her foxy suit is by the designer Jovana Louis. All synonyms of "stunning" apply here.
