Upon their arrival at the biggest awards night in Hollywood, the stars did not disappoint when it came to their sartorial choices for the red carpet. Below, check out the 10 best dressed ladies who definitely dressed to impress at the Oscars 2019!
1. Glenn Close in custom Carolina Herrera
Glenn’s gilded Carolina Herrera looked regal. Don't underestimate its simple silhouette though, as this custom gown happens to weigh 50 pounds, embellished with over three million custom-dyed bugle beads and hand-stitched in radiating lines engineered to match the shape of the dress' pattern and to create a continual flow. 40 artisans worked on the dress, making it the most complex gown ever made by the house. It was personally designed by their new creative director, Wes Gordon.
2. Gemma Chan in Maison Valentino
Gemma is proof that you can look elegant without overdoing it. All you need is a tiered ruched tent dress with a high neck from Pierpaolo Piccioli; sure doesn't hurt that it also comes in a trendy hot pink hue!
3. Awkwafina in Dsquared2
Awkwafina ditched a glam gown and opted for a glittery suit—and just how do you make a lavender suit extra glitzy? Pile on the bling, naturally! Awkwafina channeled her Crazy Rich Asian side and adorned her outfit with Chopard earrings featuring 52 carats worth of precious stones, bracelet made of 25 carats of diamonds, and ring embellished with 13 carats of pink sapphires and diamonds.
4. Kiki Layne in Versace
Kiki couldn't have chosen a better dress for her first-ever Oscars attendance. She looked gorgeous in this pink Versace gown. We love how she was able to balance out the voluminous bow at the back with a sultry cut out around the bustier.
5. Charlize Theron in Dior
Charlize Theron's Dior look is a fave for many reasons: the structured puff sleeve, the powder blue hue, the deep cut at the back, and its body-hugging silhouette. And before we could even think of the ensemble being too dainty, Charlize countered it with a layer of diamond Bulgari necklaces resembling a snake.
6. Jennifer Lopez in Tom Ford
Jennifer Lopez proved there's a number of ways to reinvent a full metallic look. Case in point: her mosaic-inspired sheath gown by Tom Ford.
7. Ashley Graham in Zac Posen
Ashley Graham's Oscars look is a modern take on Old Hollywood glamour. We like how she opted for a sleek hair 'do, minimal accessories, and a toned down makeup look so we can all focus on the main agenda: her asymmetric serpentine ebony gown that accentuated all her best assets.
8. Kacey Musgraves in Giambattista Valli
Kacey looked like a cotton candy dream in her Giamba couture dress; she was clad in layers of frothy tulle with dramatic ruffles for her sleeves and neckline. Plus, look at that cute silver brooch that completed her look! She added just the right amount of glitz, don't you think?
9. Rachel Weisz in Givenchy
Rachel Weisz was red hot and fierce in this two-piece Givenchy couture look that features a shiny latex red caplet layered over an embroidered skirt. And just how could you accessorize a statement dress like this? Opt for a same-colored clutch and finish your look with a center-parted straight 'do, complete with a pair of vintage silver Cartier pins from 1903 to maximize your elegant ensemble.
10. Laura Marano in Celia Kritharioti
Trust a Disney alum to make a neon frock work on the red carpet. Laura Marano looked youthful and fun in this bright dual-tone dress that also features a giant yellow bow at the back. So cute!
