There’s something to be said about curated vintage. Maybe it’s the way the word is thrown around so casually (read: “Love your jacket!” “Thanks, it’s vintage!”) or, even more importantly, how it’s part of the growing awareness and conversation surrounding sustainable fashion. It’s easily one of the best ways to shop ethical. Buying second hand is a great way to supersede the dangerous cycle of the fashion industry.
TBH, if you know where to look, most vintage pieces are chic and one of a kind, making thrifting an official hobby for most people. Pieces are relatively inexpensive, too, and you can even score designer clothing for a much cheaper price. But if you don’t have a knack for scouring the ukay-ukay and don’t have the time to go through racks and racks of clothing, just sift through these five curated vintage shops (all on Instagram!) and find your next statement piece:
1. Shop Florice
Think dainty pieces with lace trimmings, eyelet details, and beautiful neutral colors—these are available in Shop Florice. Their number one goal is to promote sustainable and ethical fashion. Clothes are also categorized in their Instagram Story highlights for easy navigation. Our favorite: the pink silk cami below!
A thrift shop full of “scavenged pieces,” Scave.me has a roster of contemporary and old school clothing. You can get structured pieces like track pants, vest, trousers, and parkas for P550 below. Bonus: You can even preview the clothes when worn!
Vintage jewelry from around the world? Yes, please. Each piece is handpicked by owner Sam Potenciano’s travels across the globe. Only one stock is available per pair. We especially love their inventory of chic gold clip-ons!
4. Sweet Repeat
This Tacloban-based online vintage store carries one of a kind, romantic pieces. Think prairie-style, minimalist tops that could give other high street brands a run for their money. You could even opt to bid on pieces!
5. Mala Catalog
Mala Catalog offers chic and unique clothes and bags. From vintage blazers to statement shirts, you’re sure to find an eclectic statement piece here and there. Just check out this chocolate-colored boyfriend blazer—it was such steal for only P400!
