Online Store of the Week: Mañana Swim

There’s a new swimsuit brand in IG town.
Online Store of the Week: Mañana Swim There’s a new swimsuit brand in IG town.

Monica Magsanoc and Audrey Mooney may just be two of the gutsiest ladies in the local e-commerce scene. Despite an online community already filled with various local swimwear labels, the duo brought to life Mañana Swim. “Among all the growing swimwear brands, we couldn’t find any suits that matched our body type or made us feel comfortable showing skin in public. We wanted to see modern suits that offered more coverage, yet still had an edge over the current design trends,” shares Audrey.

To aid the dilemma and finally materialize the dream, Mañana was born last April on Instagram. Get to know the exciting label a bit more through our short chat below.

What do you think makes your pieces stand out?

Definitely the perfect balance of simple yet sultry. Each of our suits are designed to make you feel comfortable in your own skin, without showing too much and without being too flashy. They’re not constricting, and definitely all sorts of versatile–our swimwear doesn’t limit you to the pool or the beach, but are designed also to be worn as outerwear or under that great pair of jeans.

Describe your design aesthetic.

Clean lines and classic silhouettes. Mañana suits aim to create contrast with sharp cuts and bold colors, yet still prioritize a minimalist aesthetic. We like to keep it effortless.

Where do you get inspiration?

Currently, we love the square necklines of '70s swimwear and the allure of the sleek Bond Girl suits. We’re inspired by bold but full-coverage pieces–skimpy just isn’t our style.

What kind of girl do you imagine wearing your pieces?

The design process starts by thinking about what we ourselves would want to wear, what we would feel comfortable in, and what would stand out. We create swimwear for the simple and sophisticated young woman–straight-forward girls from the current generation who know how to live by the essentials.

Do you plan on expanding to beach cover-ups and accessories in the near future?

We plan on creating a second collection of swimwear, that’s for sure. Monica is a Fine Arts student so we definitely want to explore original illustrations and hand-drawn patterns on our material. As for cover-ups and accessories, we’ll see where the brand takes us!
