Live the locally-crafted lifestyle.

Introducing HaloHalo, aka your new favorite locally-crafted lifestyle shop. Founded in 2013 and fresh from a "Product of the Year 2017" win from the recently concluded ArteFino local design fair, the brand hits refresh for #HaloHaloHome, a gift-ready offering of handbags and home accessories perfect for your abode.

A tasteful mishmash of goods, check out the label's latest collection of unique, useful things put together in unlikely combinations. You'll love it all, from their signature recycled plastic banig to best-selling bayong—a functional and versatile shape that can be used as either a market bag, a planter, a laundry hamper, or a storage bin—to their newest product innovation, a quiant ottoman dubbed Sopa.

Cara Sumabat, co-founder of HaloHalo alongside brother Rocco Sumabat, says, "I feel incredibly humbled by the simple idea that we get to do what we do. Our passion is putting together functional design, hand-in-hand with Filipino craft and ethically conscious decisions—I'm still in shock with the amount of attention and crazy response our small brand is getting." We stopped for a quick chat with her, so keep reading!

Describe your brand's name. Where did HaloHalo Store come from?

I always had a fascination with different materials and wanted to see how I could combine them. Most of the materials I was into were very unlikely to be matched, similar to the very familiar Filipino dessert halo-halo. Thus, I felt that it was the perfect name for the brand!

How did the label start?

The label began around five years ago as an experiment. We wanted to see if we could make bags out of the very familiar material called banig. We only made a few pieces but they sold well!

Tell us about the items in the shop. How did you curate them?

We make items that we love and use ourselves all the time! We travel and move around a lot so they range from large home items like the bayongs and sopas , and then we have the mats and bucket bags that are great for bringing around the tropics!

What are some of your best-selling products?

I know this sounds crazy but everything we have is a best seller. We take really long in the development stage so when we release a new product it’s something we’ve tried and tested!

When will a new collection be dropping? And is there anything in particular we can look forward to?

We’re still selling our home line! We have our last pop-up this year next Friday with Artefino at Power Plant Mall. We won’t be there long, it’s there December 1 till supplies last!

Describe HaloHalo's overall aesthetic.

We believe in the perfect marriage between function and aesthetic. We make our products with that in mind!
