We know you’re itching to watch a bunch of films lined up this year from part one of Mockingjay to Guardians of The Galaxy. You probably even had your tix reserved for Maleficent. But as fun and exciting it is to see Angelina in horn and Zoe Saldana as a sexy alien, nothing beats the drama of a good ol' fashion film that makes you gasp at the scandal and awe at the couture. While we’re not entirely sure if they’ll even show it here, here are a few movies we’re curious to see.
Yves Saint Laurent
Starring Pierre Niney in the title role, Nikolai Kinski as Karl Lagerfeld, and Patrice Thibaud as Christian Dior, the film directed by Jalil Lespert was officially approved by the designer’s former partner, Pierre Berge. The film gives us a peek into the life of the French designer from the beginning of his career in 1958 when he met his lover and business partner.
The second film to be made about the designer this year stars French actor and Chanel model Gaspart Ulliel alongside Léa Seydoux and Jérémie Renier. The film directed by Bertrand Bonello is offically approved by by Francois-Henri Pinault, and backed by Kering, the business which owns the Saint Laurent brand.
Dior And I
After John Galliano’s fall from grace, Raf Simons steps in to take his place at Dior with an eight week deadline to cough up his first collection. The documentary takes you behind the scenes as Raf puts together his first show in discovery of his vision for the famed fashion house.
Okay fine so this may not be a fashion film but aren’t you curious to see how those Burt’s Bees lip balms we so love come from? This big screen documentary gives you a peek into the unique world of Burt Shavitz, the face and co-founder of Burt’s Bees. Keeping a low profile, Shavitz stays true to his humble beginnings despite his claim to fame. Think the Simple Life only simpler.
