New Wing More shops at the Power Plant Mall

Expansion seems to be the buzzword. And as far as fashion is concerned, the more options, the better. The good news? Power Plant Mall has added more shops to its roster of contemporary and classy brands that unfalteringly fit our urban city life. Here's a rundown of the latest additions. Click on each brand name to see more.

GIORDANO CONCEPTS AND GIORDANO LADIES
This is something new here. Most of you are familiar with Giordano Functional and the little frog embroidered onto their polo shirts. But for those of you who love to shop in Hong Kong or Singapore, Giordano Concepts and Giordano Ladies are definite pit stops. The former offers edgy, artistic, and more adventurous pieces while Giordano Ladies, has more conventional and formal women's wear.

The color palette is distinctly black, gray, and white and at least one bright color is thrown in per season. Both are A LOT more expensive than the regular Giordano stores. A bonus though: the sales assistants are very helpful and courteous, plus the store manager is cute (At least Rajo seems to think so. See Rajo's blog).

Giordano Concepts and Giordano Ladies are located at the second floor of Power Plant Mall.

TRUCCO
Spanish-brand Trucco makes its way to Rockwell with its first of two branches—the second one at the ground floor of Greenbelt 5—offering women's fashion. It has a mature and sophisticated feel with its clean lines and very feminine dresses, tops, and bottoms yet this season's color palette has a youthful vibe.

The label's current collection is divided into five trends—basically, five color combinations—and are quite orderly arranged on the shelves by theme, making it easy to browse. The Lipstick trend is the combination of black and fuchsia while Hipicca consists mostly of brown and maroon. Blue Moon mixes brown, black and blue while Honey looks just as sweet as its name, combining brown and mint green. Finally, Mellow Cotton Trend is a splash of orange in white or black.

Look out for fun plastic pins shaped in Trucco's puzzle logo or as a comic owl. It's a steal at about P140 a piece.

TOPSHOP FLAGSHIP STORE
Topshop bade its original spot in Power Plant goodbye, leaving Dorothy Perkins to take over the space. It has now moved to a bigger—the biggest, in fact, now that it's become its flagship store—space at the same floor of the mall. This is the only branch that carries the hip selection of platforms and boots that were formerly available only at Topshop stores in Europe, the USA, and in the brand's online shop. Some clothing styles are also exclusive to this branch. Too bad, the Kate Moss Collection is not available here, though.

The racks are arranged pretty much the same as the other branches so if you're all too familiar with that already, you won't have problems with the maze-like lay-out.

SOFA RETAIL LAB
The School of Fashion and the Arts makes it easier for its young design students to showcase and actually retail their products. Currently set-up in Power Plant until January 15, 2009, the SoFA Retail Lab looks like a bazaar setting minus the haggling. Participating designers include Amour, Anette Coronel, Bamboo, Duerr, Eight. One, Jan Garcia, Moonshine and Sack.

SoFA Retail Lab is located at the second floor of Power Plant Mall.
