The ever-chic Sarah Lahbati's greatest talent has arguably got to be sniffing out whatever cool designer bags are set to take the scene by storm waaay before any of 'em even hit your dream shopping wish lists. There's no room to disagree: She was, for example, one of the polished first local girls to get her well-manicured hands on a madly coveted Dior Saddle and, far further back, the then-buzzy Gucci GG Marmont in fun, offbeat jewel tones! She still keeps us on our tippy toes to this day. A pioneer.
Below, five of her newest highbrow acquisitions, a.k.a. everyone else's cue to simply follow suit:
1. Prada Re-Edition Hobo
We were positively delighted when Sarah debuted this latest notch on her proverbial post! Signature Prada nylon really is having a huge moment, you know. Her desert sand-hued shoulder perch, dubbed the Re-Edition Hobo, proves that the immediate correlation between the words "vintage" and "cool" has never been stronger than it is right this second. With the boom of luxury secondhand e-shops The RealReal and Vestaire Collective, snagging storied designer knickknacks for a fraction of the price brings renewed thrill—it comes as no surprise then, on a similar note, that the arm candy your mom toted in the '90s is the old-new It bag. That said, Sarah's store-fresh pick is a candy-cute alternative to the Italian luxury label's utilitarian reissue of these cult classic, tough-as-nails fabric pieces. Feel free to snag your own in nearly every available rainbow stripe.
2. Bumgarner Studios Rockstar
Prolific Philippine fashion talent Mark Bumgarner just recently branched out from bespoke ball gowns, dainty ready-to-wear, and fun feathered shoes to producing a line of tasteful exotic-skin purses. And Sarah's personal choice? The Rockstar sling in blush leather.
"I think it’s a natural progression as a designer to venture into other businesses other than just clothes. To me shoes, bags, and jewelry complement my clothes so I look at it as holistic approach to being a brand," Mark told Preview in an interview last March. "I chose to use exotic leather in my shoes and bags because there [aren't] many brands that offer these kinds of materials at fairly affordable prices. Apart from its beauty, exotic leather is also challenging to work with, but it was all worth it."
3. Bottega Veneta Pouch
We're starting to very firmly believe that for every microscopic tote that appears on the market, there's begun to rise a rebel movement of sorts—enter the impending dawn of the oversized clutch. Bottega Veneta's Pouch, designed by Phoebe Philo's protege Daniel Lee and resembling a serene giant clam, has shucked open hearts the world over. Even the fabulous, formidable likes of Sarah ain't immune. Personally, yours truly, completely sparkle-mad, drools over it in crinkled, ocean blue metallic lambskin; still, Sarah's supple, smooth ivory or even a luxuriant burgundy Intrecciato weave is as unbelievably gorgeous.
4. Louis Vuitton Twist
Thanks to exactly 165 long years of manufacturing topnotch travel trunks for the past century and a half's rich and famous, Louis Vuitton's legacy is near unparalleled. No one invents classics like 'em, and the Twist is set to become one of the house's most enduring designs. Sarah got the memo! Named for the signature logo turnlock closure that, well, twists to open, it was among the styles introduced by Nicolas Ghesquiere straight after his appointment as creative director in 2014. It draws on the maison's storied history of luxury luggage yet manages to look ultra-current, a top quality that's won it fans across the globe.
5. By Far Mini
Sarah isn't the only lover of Australian label By Far's oft-mimicked Mini. (We dare you to scroll through Instagram and count exactly how many copies it's already spawned!) Count among its famous admirers Liz Uy and Aimee Song, both of whom are certified style stars who prefer this versatile, '90s flavored top handle in its candied, croc-embossed iterations. Sarah, in fact, owns this cutie in several hues, a sleek patent noir and a pretty pistachio green included! Internationally, tastemakers Kaia Gerber, Bella Hadid, and K-pop group Blackpink's Jennie Kim wear this hip, happenin' brand from Down Under on the reg.
