15 Sleek, Neutral Outfits That Will Never Go Out of Style

You probably have a friend or two aiming to "neutralize" their wardrobe. By that, they likely mean they're trying to purge their closets of hyperpieces (i.e. those garments that peak at purchase and are too idiosyncratic to be staples), and sticking to mellow, timeless colors and silhouettes. Definitely not a bad choice. While we love our prints and blinding hues, we'll always have an appetite for everything subtle and sublime. You won't hesitate to don this slouchy sleeveless tee. It's the type of piece you'll be missing the moment it makes its way into the laundry bin–it's the perfect antidote on days when you have "nothing to wear". You can style it with anything–ivory paperbag trousers, a silk skirt, flared denim jeans, boxy shorts–what have you! So chic.

See, white isn't plain at all! This ensemble's a head-turner–we're loving the ribbed leggings and windbreaker combo. The dual-toned chunky sandals, too, are gorgeous. Now you know: a seamless color scheme can elevate even the most no-frills of outfits.

There are two fashion takeaways here: 1) a belted dress in a nude color will flatter virtually any body type, and 2) the shoe you choose to pair it with is crucial. Here, Liz Uy wears tri-toned mules with spherical wooden heels, which add to the warmth of the outfit. Strappy black stilettos or white knife pumps would alter the mood dramatically!
