Only a few brands and individuals have already picked it up but by the year 2020, it is predicted that all of us will be onboard with a new key color trend that will equal—or rival—our obsession with Millennial Pink and Gen Z Yellow.
Enter: Neo Mint, a refreshing shade of green that trend forecasting company WGSN and its color-coding system Coloro predict to translate to clothes, accessories, and interior design. It is described as an “optimistic hue that embodies a sense of calm which is soothing in this current stressful geopolitical climate.” Neo Mint is also said to “encapsulate a forward-thinking mood that aligns science and technology with nature.”
Gender neutral, fashion-friendly, and suitable for interiors, Neo Mint takes off from the global pastel trend that made Millennial Pink a thing.
As a new era deserves a new color, the thinkers at the London-based company say that Neo Mint was inspired by the events that will make 2020 quite a year of technological breakthroughs: The AI Olympic events at Tokyo 2020, Uber’s ‘flying taxis’ in the US, and the completion of world’s tallest tower, the Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia.
It also seems a modern, softer take on a color associated with the arrival of the new millennium. Is it coincidence that Neo Mint is a fresher, calmer version of the green laser lights in the video of Jennifer Lopez’s Y2K anthem Waiting for Tonight or the digital rain from 1999’s The Matrix where the main protagonist is named—surprise!—Neo? Perhaps not in fashion where trends resurrect every twenty years or so.
Below, a rundown of Neo Mint’s early appearances in the shows of fashion’s famous labels and insider favorites:
Millennial pink and mustard prove to be effective accents to Neo Mint as seen on Delpozo’s pre-fall lineup.
Neo Mint was a welcome dose of freshness at the Prada Fall 2018 womenswear runway.
Tibi mixes Neo Mint with equally cool shades of blue for Resort 2019.
How about a new take on Fendi’s old logo?
Not to be outdone, a few of our beloved Pinoy style setters seem to have hopped on the Neo Mint trend in advance, too.
International fashion personalities and Preview Girls Liz Uy and Heart Evangelista are both in mint condition.
Rhett Eala’s Olivia top and Rajo Laurel’s Psyllium dress are both rendered in seafoam, a hue so close to Neo Mint.
Former Preview Fashion Director and stylist Daryl Chang matched with the minty fresh interiors of Off-White.
Neo Mint is also a fresh idea for interiors and Insta-backgrounds. Whether your mood is vintage, minimalist, or futuristic, 2020’s color of the year is so #aesthetic and deserves double taps.
Who wouldn’t want to come home to this?

The quickest way to hop on a color trend is to incorporate it into your photo’s set or background.
