Thrift flipping has been an emerging trend on Tiktok, but no one does it better like Preview cover star Nava Rose. The 29-year-old Filipino content creator has even caught the eye of Vogue editors with her sewing skills as she made outfits out of fake luxury bags.
Nava Rose, who's currently based in Los Angeles, shared on Tiktok how she thrifted a fake Louis Vuitton duffel bag and transformed it into a two-piece sultry set. She even lined her pink jacket with spare fabric from the monogrammed tote! So cute!
Oh, and did we mention she actually went to a Louis Vuitton store and debuted her look? "In the store, no one actually went up to me, but I remember a worker was shocked to find out my outfit was made from a handbag," she recalls in an interview. LOL!
But it's not just Louis Vuitton bags that Nava likes to thrift flip. She's also given a crafty twist to fake Gucci bags and made a monogrammed harness, a crop top, and upgraded a simple skirt with accessories made from upcycled Gucci hardware.
Being a third-generation sewer, creativity naturally flows in Nava's veins. She tells Vogue in an interview, "There’s something so beautiful about creating something from scratch, or transforming one thing to another. It’s so rewarding when you can look at the final product and say, ‘I made that.’" Hear, hear!
