When stars walk down the red carpet, everybody talks about their flawless makeup, their fancy dresses and who they’re wearing. But when these celebrities make it to the best-dressed list, we normally forget about the stylish team who worked really hard to put their names up there.

This year, we’re giving credit where it’s due by putting the spotlight on the stylists who dressed up the stars for this year’s Star Magic Ball. To start off, read on below as celebrity stylist Myrrh Lao To spills the beans about how he dolled up the Female Star of the Night, Julia Montes.

“Our inspiration was the ‘40s era when everyone would really dress up for every occasion, big or small. We got fashion designer Albert Andrada to recreate the classic Charles James silhouette, but we all agreed that he put a modern twist to it – hence, the strapless illusion and the sexy low back. Julia wanted it to be simple but elegant and classic at the same time.”

“While she was trying on her gown during the fitting, she put her hair up and parted it in the middle. That’s when we realized that it was the perfect hairstyle for the dress.”

“For the makeup, we just wanted it fresh and not heavy. We agreed to take a 180-degree spin from what she has done in the past, so we opted for lighter hues of nudes and neutrals.”

“We carefully chose the jewelry because we wanted something understated but still very sophisticated – a tennis bracelet and a pair of diamond earrings both by JJ Jiao. Her minaudière was custom-made by Anna Rubio.”

“Julia is 20 years old already. She always looks timeless yet fashion-forward, but this year, we made sure that she also looks age-appropriate. I wanted her to represent the women her age and, at the same time, show that she's a queen in her own right. ”
