These pairs will age like fine wine.

Lining your beloved shoe closet with pricey designer steps is the resplendent dream. Do we hear a resounding amen? We're guessing you're about to take the splurge. Before you embark on the hunt, let us dole out a fast, eight-figure guide: Here, the top octet of enduring high heel styles that will age like the finest of wines. Tried, tested, and proven! You'll love them (and us, you're welcome) forever.

The Most Iconic Heels from Designer Brands

1. Manolo Blahnik Hangisi

Just one of the numerous pieces elevated to certified iconhood by Sex and the City's inimitable Carrie Bradshaw, the Manolo Blahnik Hangisi in cobalt satin has become that coveted "something blue" for brides across the globe. Still, whether or not your own Mr. Big has proposed yet, it's equal parts classic and statement, coming in a timeless pump shape yet boasting of a myriad of rainbow hues and embellishments. We're actually really liking these pearl-dotted options in particular, but Heart Evangelista's soft cerulean, legendary crystal buckled velvet version is just as ace. Fun fact: Each glitzy buckle is made with exactly 144 sparkling stones!

2. Chanel Two-Tone

Undeniably enduring is Chanel's cap toe shoe, which was reimagined for the modern gal by the late, great Karl Lagerfeld in 2014. It originally debuted in 1957, when Gabrielle Chanel herself declared it "the height of elegance." Who was to argue? Also, the clever Madame destined the Two-Tone combo to endlessly flatter: The beige is meant to lengthen the leg, while the black tip oh-so-delicately shortens your foot. As a result, the enamored press instantly dubbed it "the New Cinderella Slipper," and ultra-glamorous Hollywood beauties—count Catherine DeneuveRomy Schneider, and Brigitte Bardot among the multitude—caught on almost instantly, catapulting it into coveted cult status. For a quick and easy height boost, forgo the typical flat and choose a demure heeled silhouette like Janine Gutierrez's.

3. Casadei Blade

This sexy number cuts quite the dashing figure. Literally. Named, of course, for its vertigo inducing bladelike stiletto that's slim and sharp enough to dice your lunchtime veggies, family heritage label Casadei's Blade is made with supple, superb Italian craftsmanship designed to lengthen your stems by miles. And, trust us, it definitely does its job. Instantly identifiable by its contrasting high shine silver or gold knife-esque heel molded to a sleek leather body, its tasteful black iteration injects sultry spice into what should be a basic closet staple. That said, go right ahead and snap it up in any of the colors you please.

4. Christian Louboutin So Kate

Another dagger in the hilt! Christian Louboutin's stab happy So Kate has got to be the ultimate killer heel. After all, a quick, casual flash of those telltale lacquered red soles as you strut is widely considered to be the status symbol of status symbols...never mind that many whisper that they're, well, not exactly the comfiest. But who cares? Certainly not any of the millions of ladies who've been fans since the slender, pin-heeled stilts were especially and lovingly made for super duper model Kate Moss. Now that's a legendary namesake.

5. Stuart Weitzman Nudist

The very first time the impossibly minimal Stuart Weitzman Nudist sandals hit the red carpet was when German American actress Diane Kruger, swathed in kaleidoscopic floral Mary Katrantzou, wore them to the 2013 Television Critics Association's summer press tour. Hearts worldwide were instantly won, launching a dizzying slew of copycats eager to mimic its near divine versatility. In a 2017 interview with InStyle, the designer himself spoke about how the virtually invisible yet achingly seductive style was born: "It happened because there was a need for it. Too many celebrities would change their dress at the last minute and those wonderful shoes we made won't go with the new outfit. We needed to have a shoe simple enough that it could go with literally everything. The Nudist is the little black dress of shoes." Brilliant, dear Stuart.

6. Saint Laurent Opyum

What better route to rock n' rolling a blaring logo than on your skyscraping sole? We think that the Saint Laurent OpYum bears the aptest moniker—in straightforward words, it's completely addictive. If you're a tried and tested stilt junkie, you'll find to your utter satisfaction that these are the epitomical mix of brand brandishing and sublime to a fault. This specific take on the house's ubiquitous stacked initials was introduced by current creative director Anthony Vacarrello on the Spring-Summer 2017 runway. Enjoy hovering above ground level a la YSL!

7. Valentino Rockstud

Your fondness for the Valentino Rockstud's cage-like, chunky multi strap iteration may have significantly waned through the years, and we absolutely don't blame you. Still, we'll allow that its simple, sleek pump version is rather ageless, and makes a pretty subdued, refined way to catch envious gazes. In 2010, the then-new design duo at Valentino, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, had breaths bated as they sent sweet little frocks paired with a (gasp) 2.5-inch heel down the catwalk. Not that a midi was anything revolutionary, of course; it was only that that era was a stomping ground for the round, peeptoed, platform-soled movement, and these vamp meets sophisticated kicks, edged and bedecked with tiny metal pyramids, were a sight for sore eyes. Tough and fresh.

8. Roger Vivier Belle Vivier

Born in 1965, the Roger Vivier Belle Vivier remains every bit the regal grand dame she was originally created to be. If you take a full minute to mull it over, that was a good, hefty 54 years ago. The swingin' '60s sure did a ton of things right. So how can something five whole decades old retain its relevance and desirability to this moment? It's almost as if women evolve for mademoiselle Belle and not the other way around. Figures. Its chic, slanted block heel, prim square toe, and indicative rectangular buckle read a laidback polish that translates to our flash forward 2019 with cultivated poise. For a Parisian casual, au courant spin, team 'em with nothing but a plain white T-shirt and raw hemmed, cropped flare jeans.
