Upon Peter Copping’s step down last July, the creative director post for Oscar de la Renta remained vacated. That is, until the homecoming of Lauren Kim and Fernando Garcia, who have already worked with the Dominican-American designer himself before his passing.

Lauren and Fernando started as interns and later on served as design director and design assistant, respectively. The two have branched out on their own, debuting Monse just this spring—a brand that quickly became a favorite among the stars. Recently, Selena Gomez picked the said brand for her Revival tour.

“We are beyond thrilled to go back to the house where we learned the fundamentals of fashion from Oscar and the business of fashion from Alex. Having further learned so much this past year with Monse, we will apply all of those lessons to expand the vision that this amazing house has already established,” the duo said in a joint statement announcing their appointment.
Laura and Fernando will simultaneously run Monse and design for Oscar de la Renta. Their debut collection for the latter is expected next February.
