We first spotted Hannah Locsin at a SOFA grad show, when Preview Fashion Director Daryl Chang saw potential in the gangly college student with killer cheekbones. This month, she's one of our girls of summer and poses in a maillot from Neon Island. Here's a snippet of our interview with Hannah and why she's the model to watch.
What would your signature pose be if you could coin one?
Maybe a more laid back kind of pose; most of the time, people ask me to pose in a more lazy/slouchy way, which is fine by me because I tend to have bad posture!
Describe your personal style.
My style is simple and comfortable, but trendy. I wear a lot of light colors, and young and feminine clothes!
Who’s your number one model girl crush/inspo and why?
My number one model inspiration would be Coco Rocha! I really admire how unafraid she is to look ridiculous on camera. [She loves] experimenting with her facial expressions and poses in each shot. Despite the crazy things she does, she still has limits and morals that she doesn’t compromise, which goes to show that she stays true to herself. I’d love to meet her one day!
What’s the most difficult/scariest thing you’ve ever done for a shoot?
The scariest thing I’ve had to do for a shoot to date is probably when I had to sit on the ledge of a rooftop building. Getting on the ledge itself was already pretty difficult because I was scared that I’d fly off the building if I lifted myself onto it! When I finally got to sit on the ledge I couldn’t move around much, out of fear, and I just kept repeating in my head, “Don’t lean back.”
Your ultimate dream modeling gig?
I have a lot of dream gigs (probably too many to mention), but to name a few, I’d want to be part of the Balmain army, work with Karl Lagerfeld, and walk during international fashion week. I’d also want to shoot for international Filipino designers. I haven’t had the chance to work with Francis Libiran, Ezra Santos or Michael Cinco (yet!)
