In August 2024, Filipino model Hannah Locsin exchanged vows with her beau, chef Jaysen Clifft, in a New York ceremony. More than two years later, on October 17, the New York-based model returned to the Philippines for another wedding celebration with family and friends.
For the occasion, Hannah enlisted designer Martin Bautista to create her bridal look. “Having known Hannah for nearly a decade, she has truly been a quintessential ‘MB girl’—walking the runway for my shows, starring in my campaign lookbooks, and wearing my pieces on numerous occasions,” the Preview BFFD 2024 honoree shared.
Their years of working together gave the pair a natural understanding of each other’s sensibilities. Martin had become familiar with the cuts and silhouettes Hannah gravitates toward, while the model knew how well his design language would translate into her dream wedding dress.

Ahead, Martin shares how he brought Hannah Locsin’s bridal gown to life.
Martin Bautista on the Making of Hannah Locsin’s Bridal Look
Hannah first approached Martin in November 2025, nearly a year before the wedding. Following an initial consultation in January, they held their first fitting in August, when the designer visited New York.
Martin brought a prototype of the gown in his suitcase, which Hannah tried on for the first time in his cramped hotel room. With three months to go before the wedding, she took the opportunity to practice walking in the dress along the hotel hallways. “Because the lace is so incredibly delicate, I insisted on using a mockup first to prevent any mistakes or damage,” he explained.

True to Martin’s signature aesthetic, the ensemble exudes effortless ease. Crafted from lace and silk tulle, the tropical-inspired gown is adorned with Philippine pearls, lending the design a distinctly local touch.

Martin envisioned the bridal look as an homage to the Philippine islands, incorporating elements that evoke a sense of home. It was, after all, a homecoming of sorts for Hannah, who had flown back from New York to celebrate with her loved ones in the Philippines.
“Our concept centered on a full-lace bridal look, made deeply personal through touches of Philippine pearls and fluid silk tulle reflecting our islands,” Martin shared.
Guided by Hannah’s request for an all-lace ensemble, Martin designed a figure-skimming, long-sleeved gown with a low back. Cascading panels of silk tulle draped across the silhouette, executed in quintessential Martin Bautista fashion.
