LOOK: Past Miss Universe winners' looks at MUPH 2022
1. Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach
For her first ensemble of the evening, the Miss Universe 2015 glimmered in a custom silver gown by Mark Bumgarner. It was an homage to the first-ever Filipina Miss Universe, Gloria Diaz, whose winning answer was about what she would do if the first man on the moon visited Manila.
When Margie Moran won Miss Universe 1973, a bright flower pinned to her gown became a symbol of her victory. Pia channeled the iconic flora through her second look of the evening. This yellow reinvention of the one-piece by Jaggy Glarino showcases a woman in full bloom, and unapologetically highlights her curves.
Blue has always been Pia’s winning color, both in the blue Albert Andrada gown and the sapphire-studded crown she donned during her Miss Universe 2015 win. Naturally, her third look for MUPH this year was an ode to her younger self that managed to achieve her much-awaited dream. It’s through this blue two-piece Louis Pangilinan creation that Pia takes wearing the crown to the next level. It featured a mermaid-cut skirt and a beaded back detail.
Taking inspiration from Catriona Gray’s lava gown, Pia’s final look of the night was a fully-sequined flame-hued dress by Gladi Echavarre and Atsuko Kudo, teamed with long red opera gloves. This sultry red number of the capability of women to be "fierce, feminine, and fabulous" in everything they do.
2. Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere
For her first look of the evening, the Miss Universe 2016 looked absolutely regal in a long, shimmery dress that was peppered with gold details. It featured floor-grazing sleeves and a v-neckline that accentuated the beauty queen’s décolletage.
During her second wardrobe change, Iris embodied an array of hues via a sheer gown, which had blue, pink, and orange embellishments running through its bodice and skirt.
Iris closed the night in a stunning terno-style evening gown by renowned designer Michael Cinco. The creation featured an upper bodice with oversized sleeves and a high neck completely encrusted in a rainbow of crystals, with icicle droplets hanging off the hem. A fitted white sheer skirt allowed the top portion of the dress to take center stage. The finishing touch to this jaw-dropping gown was a veil-like cape that flowed behind her like a gossamer waterfall.
3. Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Tebow
Joining Pia and Iris as hosts was Miss Universe 2017, Demi-Leigh Tebow. The South African beauty first stepped onto the stage in a glistening lilac gown that had a solo cape-like sleeve. The embellishments and pattern detail were to die for!
One quick outfit change later, and Demi was in another candy-colored number, this time in a flouncy a-line gown that was peppered with crystals at her waist. Adding more dreaminess to the look were the feathery appliqués on her sleeves.
In a more understated, but still as stunning moment, Demi slipped into a jewel-encrusted blue and silver gown that flaunted her décolletage and hugged her in all of the right places.
To wrap up the evening, the beauty queen rocked a structured black gown that was composed of an intricately-made and crystal-adorned bustier, and a drape black skirt.
4. Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu
Our current reigning queen wasn't going to miss out on the night's festivities! Serving as one of the judges, Harnaaz excuded elegance in a ruby red Mark Bumgarner halter gown, which was punctuated with a gold neckpiece and of course, her Power of Unity crown.
