Miss Universe Thailand 2017 Maria Poonlertlarp Ehren was without a doubt one of the pageant's biggest standouts. Her midnight blue evening gown wowed both the judges and the audience, and for good reason. Keep scrolling to take a closer look at the dazzling piece!
According to the Asava Group who designed her outfit, the cap-sleeved dress was made of silk velvet fabric. They embellished the entire thing with Swarovski crystals, which were delicately sewn in from top to bottom.
Her lace cape, also covered in crystals, was attached to the sleeves. It swept the floor graciously as she walked.
In case you didn't catch the broadcast, here's a front, back, and side view of the masterpiece on a mannequin:
Interestingly, Maria changed the dress up a bit after being showcased in the preliminaries. She originally had tulle lining the open front of her dress, which was removed for the coronation night. What a smart move!
Like Maria, Miss Universe Thailand 2016 Chalita Suansane also stunned in deep hues at last year's evening gown segment. Her black dress had sparkling embellishments and a cape as well, albeit it came in a different style called the Thai Chakri. This style was popularized by the country's Queen Sirikit during the early stages of her leadership.
Overall, Miss Thailand definitely deserved her spot in this year's top five. Stunning!
