All the Details of Catriona Gray's National Costume for Miss Universe She honors our motherland with her outfit.

Catriona Gray has collaborated with 16 artisans to produce the three gowns she will be wearing in her effort to win the Miss Universe 2019 crown. One of these three gowns has been revealed tonight as the National Costume competition takes place.

Earlier, Catriona uploaded a sneak peek of her costume on her YouTube channel, which she says is an ode to the three main islands of our country: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Carlos Buendia Jr., who helped Catriona with her costume shares that the whole ensemble is called Luzviminda: Magdiwang. Lumaban. Pagyamanin.

Now, without much further ado, here is the full look of Catriona for tonight's competition.

The beauty queen explained that her stained glass-inspired full body suit was made in the Visayan region, while her brass accessories (made by the T'boli tribe) like bangles, earrings, head piece, and her Jojo Bragais thigh-high boots were nods to the Mindanao region.

Finally, Catriona's statement piece comes in the form of Luzon's pride, Pampanga's world-famous Christmas lanterns.

Carlos further explains that at the back of Catriona's parol, you'll find Baybayin inscriptions of our national anthem. It translates to "Lupang hinirang duyan ka ng magiting. Sa manlulupig, di ka pasisiil." These lines are accompanied by illustrations depicting our long history of battles and victories against foreign oppressors. The artwork was inspied by National Artist Carlo "Botong" Francisco.

Additionally, the lantern bears a border similar to the Baroque churches you can find in Manila that were declared as UNESCO Heritage sites.
