Catriona Gray just snapped a photo of her OOTD for her preliminary interview and she looks absolutely stunning! The 24-year-old beauty queen repped the country in true Dalagang Pilipina fashion, wearing a modern terno ensemble by designer Jearson Demavivas who was personally approached by Catriona's team. "Catriona, as the visionary that she is, gave us the idea of what she wanted to wear. She said she wanted Philippine tapestry," Jearson tells Preview. "Her look is basically a modern Filipiniana dress"
Rendered in sunkissed hues to complement her fair skin, Catriona's camisa and saya outfit is 100% sourced from authentic local materials crafted by our native tribes. Her orange top made out in the terno's signature butterfly sleeves was handweaved by the Inabels of Ilocos, while her slit skirt made of Kalinga fabric originated from the Isnags of Apayao.
Obviously taking the opportunity to showcase the beauty of Filipino culture, as well as highlight the talents of our often ignored and underrepresented native tribes, we couldn't have thought of a better outfit for Catriona. A true Filipina, she kept the rest of her look simple yet sophisticated with her slicked back straight hair, and finished the ensemble with rose-colored pumps.
As for the designer that made this look happen, Jearson had this message for his muse, "My message to Cat is enjoy every moment. You have done so much for our country and you have already won our hearts. You deserve it!And as you walk on Miss Universe stage, think that all Filipinos are at your back ready to scream and fight for you. We are with you all the way! Cat, this is it! Let's be ready to win!"
