World-class sculptor Michael Cacnio is lauded for his work on brass as his medium. His pieces tackle social realism, which features a tableaux of the traditional Filipino life. But as with any form of art, his work aims to not only tug at your heart strings as natives but to also resonate with your nationalistic side. And how else can one wear his Filipino pride the best? Through ornate jewelry, of course.
Thus, Michael has produced a 15-piece collection of fine jewelry with JMA Jewelry; each piece showcases a distinct Michael Cacnio design, adorned with diamonds and colored gemstones, and crafted using 18-karat solid gold. Aptly called Gunita—which translates to "recollecting, reminiscing, or bringing back one’s memories of past occurrences"— this collection has pieces that will remind you of your childhood and what being a Filipino means.
Aside from the 15 pieces, the collaboration also introduces 20 designs that those interested may commission the jewelry house to make for them. You can choose which materials you would like to use and incorporate in your jewelry, making each piece truly one-of-a-kind.
