The sharp and opulent style that the Japanese have been known for gets a modern and edgy reinterpretation through Reynier Abello’s Panasonic Manila Fashion Festival collection dubbed as The Hidden Fortress.
Pushing the Japonaiserie inspiration further is this particular all-black outfit featuring a button-down dress with a photograph print rippling across the dark fabric. An oversized tailored coat is worn over it, and a leather obi belt cinches the waist to give it shape. The look is capped off with a pair of red thigh-high patent leather boots, giving it some street style sensibility.

Another stunner is a red dress in a varsity jacket design, featuring an enthralling kabuki print that shows what it truly means to remember the past while drawing inspiration from innovation.

The whole collection consists of clean tailoring, captivating prints, and light layering that’s totally achievable even with our scorching humidity. The showcase is a marriage between the past and the future that the Japanese mastered through the years: from casual pieces in earthy greens and gold with iconic Japanese fixtures printed on them; to vests, coats, and jackets in black with contrasting designs to set it apart from each other; to shades of red with kabuki portraits blown up against.
